A French Louis XVI style, ebonised timber and gilt brass-mounted 'Bureau Plat' desk of fine Neoclassical proportions, fitted with two pull-out extension leaves opening at each end. The top and the two pull-out extensions are fitted with the original, embossed and gilt-edged leather. The desk's restrained decorations include French Neoclassical oval key escutcheons, gilt brass mouldings framing the drawers and gilt brass tips on the legs. The desk is finished on both sides, so that it can de displayed in the centre of a room. Retaining the original locks and keys. Please note how wonderfully the gilt brass mouldings offset theblack ebonised timbers. Area of Paris, circa 1930.

Dimensions: 128 x 71 cm, height 76 cm. With the two pull out leaves, this desk extends to a length of circa 196 cm.
