A pair of French Empire Candlestick Lamps

A pair of 19th century French Napoleon III period, Empire style 'Flambeaux' silvered brass candlesticks, the balusters with haut relief fluting standing on circular plinths decorated with 'Palmette' and trellises of stylised foliate motifs. Please note the jewellery-like quality of the metalwork. Later electrified for use as table lamps. Paris, circa 1870.

Condition report: In good and original condition, the surfaces are nicely worn, with some brass showing through the finely chased and silvered finish. Requiring to be wired to Australian safety standards. The silver finish needs polishing, the lampshades need to be replaced.

Dimensions: Height to lightbulb holders 21 cm, diameter of plinths 10cm.
