A 19th century French Napoleon III period, Louis XV style solid pine and oak 'Armoire' wardrobe, originally used in a home for storage of fine ceramics, fabrics and glassware - an important home's item, usually presented as a gift to a newly-wed couple. The pine timbers are nicely-burnished and retain the original luminous patina. Internally fitted with the original shelving. Please note the elegant and large 'Chapeau de Gendarme' pediment, and the façade which is decorated, typically for this region of normandy, with haut relief scroll-work and circular mouldings. Area of Pays de Caux (Upper Normandy), circa 1870.
