A large set of French Oyster Plates + Platters

A large set of 19th century French 'Longchamp' majolica oyster plates comprising sixteen plates and the original three stackable platters. Each oyster plate is designed to hold six oysters or scallops, plus a slice of lemon in the centre. Hand painted in natural colours and decorated in the shape of oyster shells lying on a bed of green seaweed. The undersides with the "Longchamp, Terre de Feu" hallmarks stamped on the green glaze. Area of Cote d'Or, France, circa 1890.
