A 19th century French Louis XVI style, two door, solid and cross-banded walnut bookcase internally fitted with four adjustable-height shelves. The pediment is decorated with a the typical Louis XVI motif of a crossed "Quiver and Torch", an allegory for Piercing Intelligence and for the Flame of Passion. A drawer opens in the plinth. Retaining the original glass panels and the original, gilt brass handles, lock and key. The finish retains the original, soft and luminous walnut patination. Area of Paris, circa 1880.
Condition report: In good and as found condition, showing only slight wear in keeping with its age. Requiring a wax and buff.
