A 19th century French blown-glass 'cloche', (a miniature glass-house), which was originally used in agriculture to protect delicate plants (such as lettuces and strawberries) from frost. Please note the hand-made glass, with 'wobbles and trapped air bubbles. These cloches are now best used in the home to cover fruit, bread and cheese. Area of Normandy, circa 1860.

Condition report: In good and original condition, requiring a wash with warm soapy water.
