A 19th century French Louis XIV style cast iron door knocker in the shape of a ring, retaining its separate strike plate. The heavy ring is hinged onto a round back-plate - and can be lifted and allowed to strike down onto the strike plate. Area of Paris, circa 1880.

Condition report: In good and as-found, unrestored condition, showing surface wear in keeping with its age.

Dimensions: Diameter of the ring 14 cm.
