A large pair of 19th century French Napoleon III period, wrought iron 'chenet' fire dogs showing the rivets and ties of their hand-worked construction, the metal surfaces nicely-patinated by time. Please note the high-quality wrought iron work in the twist-turned uprights and in the stylised foliate elements, typical of their origin in a Normandy Chateau. Area of Normandy, circa 1860.
