A Wedgwood Basalt "Dolphin" Candlestick

A rare, early 19th century Wedgwood black basalt candlestick in the form of a dolphin standing on a rectangular plinth, the edges decorated with haut relief scallop shells. The cup-shaped dolphin's tail is the candle holder. Nice detail throughout including fish scales. Stamped on the base "Wedgwood". Area of Stoke-on-Trent, circa 1840.

Condition report: In good and original condition.

Dimensions: Height 25 cm, plinth 15 x 8.5 cm.
