A Queen-size French Directoire Bed

An elegant, early 20th century French Directoire-style carved and painted Queen-size ‘Lit-en-Bateau’ sleigh bed of good proportions and simple Neoclassical design. The painted finish with a warm and soft ivory colour. This bed is large enough to accommodate a standard Queen-size mattress without requiring alterations or extensions to be made. Area of Paris, circa 1930.

Condition report: In excellent, unrestored condition. Requiring cleaning and re-covering with fresh fabric.

Dimensions: Width 150 cm, height of header 116 cm, footer 78 cm.
