A large Aubusson Tapestry

A large-size loom-woven and knotted Aubusson tapestry depicting a coat of arms with the insignia of the Order of the Garter, with its motto "honi soit qui mal y pense". The second motto, written on the ribbon below the coat of arms belongs to William III. It reads "Je main tien dray". The tapestry is complete with allegories surrounded by garlands of flowers, flags and is framed in a laurel leaf border. Late 20th century.
