A late 19th century French Louis XV style solid oak Petrin de Provence dough bin, standing on finely turned baluster legs with a platform shelf. Note the richly carved facade and base, typical of Southern France. Originally the top of this Petrin opened as a lid, but was later altered to open forward, (like a flip-top desk).
